Strategist for Wiki team

Location:

Virtual (US-based)

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

At least 1-5 years of professional experience

Position

Contractor / Full-Time

 

Our Strategists are responsible for the following:

  • Leading research and writing for key Wikipedia accounts and projects

  • Providing strategy insight into Wikipedia accounts and projects

  • Working closely with the accounts team to ensure business objectives are met

  • Writing to a high quality and following Wikipedia’s guidelines and standards

  • Editing, revising and reviewing work, especially in response to feedback

  • Undertaking disclosed onsite outreach to the Wikipedia community for Wikipedia accounts and projects


Our Strategist will be expected to:

  • Work on tight deadlines

  • Self-check and proofread their own work

  • Learn to write in a style appropriate to Wikipedia

  • Learn to provide strategic insight for achieving project goals in line with Wikipedia guidelines and policies

  • Communicate regularly with the accounts team to provide status updates on work progress and detailed explanations of revisions on assigned projects

  • Learn to proofread and quality check others' work, especially to ensure it is in line with Wikipedia guidelines and policies

  • Adhere to Wikipedia's Terms of Use, policies and guidelines with regards to conflict of interest editors


The Skills

  • At least 1-5 years of professional experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required

  • Very strong written communication skills a must

  • Very strong research and analytical skills a must

  • Technical writing experience is preferred

  • Must be organized, resourceful and disciplined

  • Must be a self-starter who can stay on task without a manager on site

  • Experience in marketing or with an advertising agency a plus

  • Experience working remotely is a plus

  • Experience in roles with editing or proofreading is a plus

  • Experience with the Wikipedia community and creating content for Wikipedia is a major plus

Salary range: $32k to $42k
